Frizz happens when the hair’s cuticle layer raises, enabling moisture to penetrate and swell the strand resulting in dry, frizzy hair.  What you may not be aware of are the different types of frizz that occurs — here are a few of them:

Dry frizz is exactly what it says; it has a dry look and feel

End frizz typically appears at the ends of the hair

Halo frizz happens at the crown of the head.

Before summer hits, take note of a few tips to battle frizz and grow longer, thicker hair:

Add protein to your deep conditioning process. Because your hair is made of protein, it craves it.  Try a DIY protein mask to restore your hair’s protein source; this will also flatten your cuticle layer. With our ONE Rosemary and Avocado Conditioner, apply a quarter size amount (or more depending on length and texture) while your hair is wet. Use a wide tooth comb to distribute evenly throughout the hair and have the conditioner sit for 30 minutes. Rise with cool water to seal your cuticles, allowing moisture and nutrients to penetrate and close your roots.

Trim, trim, trim your hair.  It may seem counterproductive to trim your hair when growing it out, but untrimmed ends lead to damage and breakage.  Regular trimming prevents this from happening creating healthier, frizz-free hair.

Cover your hair at night. Preserve your strands by covering it with a silk or satin bonnet overnight.  This protection rules out unwanted damage or breakage to your tresses.
